News & Reviews

Here’s the latest:

Shore Ordered Ocean has been in some amazing company lately. It was a finalist for ForeWord Magazine‘s Book of the Year Awards, and it was recently “long-listed”  for the University of Wales Dylan Thomas Prize . Thanks to all the individuals involved in those votes of confidence, and thanks to the authors of two new reviews of Shore Ordered Ocean, Danielle Sellers and Claire Crowther, as well as to the editors of New Letters and Poetry London, the publications in which the reviews appear. Both Sellers and Crowther are wonderful poets, and I’m humbled that they took the time that they did with my poems. (Although I linked to both publications above, Crowther’s actual review is only available in print. You can read an excerpt at the Waywiser site … or perhaps now’s the time to subscribe to Poetry London!)

In other news, I’m happy to say that my next collection of poems, Say So, is definitely on its way. It’s due out from the Cleveland State University Poetry Center in a few months, and I’ve seen some glimpses of what Amy Freels, CSUPC’s fabulous book designer, has been cooking up for the cover. It’s looking really great, and it features a photo by my bosom buddy (does anyone still say that?) Laurel Nakadate, the amazing video artist/filmmaker/photographer.

Last news for today, I promise: I’m super-psyched that Duets Books, a new press that publishes limited-edition chapbooks pairing poets from America and New Zealand, has just released my Pocket Money with James Brown’s Against Gravity. Brown is a great New Zealand poet, and I hope you check out Pocket Money/Against Gravity (available at the Duets site through Paypal; the chapbook will fly right to you). Thanks, Duets Books!
